Dachshunds come in three coat types smooth, longhair, wire and also in two sizes, miniature and standard. A miniature in dachshunds, according to AKC, is a dog weighing under eleven pounds at one year of age. There is no such thing as a toy dachshund, perhaps a very small mini but no such classification as toy exists, in reference to dachshunds. We have had some of our dachshunds go over the weight limit for miniatures and become "intermediates" or sometimes referred to as "tweenies" (Dachshunds between Mini and Standard, a slang term, not an AKC term). The variety of color and pattern choices make this breed even more interesting and attractive. Patterns of color on dachshunds include dapple, double dapple, brindle, and piebald. We will raise solid and occasionally have piebald in both smooth and longhairs. We wish to dedicate ourselves to raising and showing quality dachshunds in conformation and the other activities that they do so well. This breed does not drool, slobber or smell. The longhair dachshund only sheds periodically when growing a new coat. These dogs are very adaptable creatures fitting well into city, country, house, apartments, indoors or outside. They are wonderful pets for children, the elderly, can be excellent guard dogs and great therapy dogs as well. With proper care a dachshund can live to be 14-16. Dachshunds are so much fun and very versatile. Show quality dachshunds can compete in conformation as well as many of the other activities available for dachshunds. Any dachshund when properly trained can do obedience, agility, earthdog and field trials. CH Sageruns Rock-On MW x Hidden Cedars INeeda Martini MS are the parents to this litter that arrived on 5-14-09. They are all black/tan smooth mini dachshund puppies. There are two boys and three girls. Both smooth mini blk/tan male dachshund puppies are now available as neutered companions. Only one smooth mini blk/tan female dachshund pup available as two female smooth mini blk/tan dachshund puppies are already spoken for. We will keep the pick female and the rest of the litter will be available as spayed/neutered companions. We may not know which female we will be keeping till they are at least 12 weeks old. We will update photos as they mature. If you pick your puppy up from Hidden Cedars they are able to leave at 10 weeks of age on or after July 23, 2009. We prefer to ship our pups at 12 weeks of age by Continental Airlines Quick Pak counter to counter. This method insures that the pup will be in a climate controlled atmosphere from departure to arrival. We have been 100% satisfied with Continental Airlines excellent handling of our precious pups. Thanks Continental Airlines. The cost to ship a pup is done by weight. Under 50 lbs which of course all of ours are, is $210 to almost every where Continental flies in the U.S. The cost of the crate to ship in is $35 and a health certificate is $40. Add the total of the $285 to the cost of the pup and that would be the total for both pup and shipping.
